EARTH DAUGHTERS
Why We Support Indigenous Rural Schools
For many rural Indigenous communities, schools are more than classrooms—they are cultural hubs where language, tradition, and community life thrive. They are spaces for passing down ancestral knowledge, practicing land-based skills, and strengthening intergenerational connections.
Yet many Indigenous rural schools face chronic underfunding, limited resources, and infrastructure challenges. By providing essential materials and culturally grounded programs, Earth Daughters helps bridge these gaps—ensuring students succeed academically while staying rooted in their languages and traditions.

SCHOOL FURNITURE FOR RURAL OAXACAEarth Daughters supported an Indigenous rural-serving school in Santa Catarina, Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca by funding new classroom furniture—providing desks and chairs for children who had previously been sitting on the floor. These resources now offer students a more comfortable and dignified learning environment, helping them focus and fully participate in their education.

BACKPACKS FOR RURAL HONDURASIn partnership with local leaders, we provided backpacks filled with school supplies to Indigenous children in rural Honduras, ensuring they have the tools they need to learn and thrive. Many of these communities face barriers to accessing quality education, including limited resources and long travel distances to schools. By supplying backpacks and essential materials, we help lighten the burden for families, support students’ learning journeys, and honor the resilience of Indigenous communities.

IKOOTS LANGUAGE & CULTURAL PROGRAMEarth Daughters supported Manos del Mar Oaxaca in hosting two cultural empowerment and language preservation workshops for 50 Ikoots children, addressing the cultural shame and language loss Indigenous youth face under ongoing assimilation. Each child participated in a three-hour session and received a holiday educational kit with art supplies and a shirt reading “I am Ikoots.”
