AI & INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming society, yet its impacts on Indigenous Peoples remain underexamined. This campaign seeks to educate, mobilize, and spark dialogue on how AI intersects with Indigenous rights, sovereignty, and cultural integrity.

AI technologies hold both promise and peril. Without safeguards, they risk reproducing systemic biases, enabling cultural appropriation, and deepening inequities. But when guided by Indigenous leadership and values, AI can protect languages, knowledge systems, sovereignty, and intergenerational futures.

Campaign Goals

  • Raise Awareness: Share stories, research, and examples of AI’s impacts on Indigenous communities.
  • Defend Rights: Advocate for ethical AI governance frameworks that respect sovereignty, data ownership, and FPIC.
  • Shape Futures: Highlight opportunities for AI to support Indigenous innovation and climate resilience.
  • Spark Dialogue: Create spaces where Indigenous voices, technologists, and policymakers engage together.
