how we work

Earth Daughters operates by supporting and uplifting transnational Indigenous women and youth as leaders in climate justice. The organization focuses on community‑led initiatives, ensuring that solutions come directly from the people most connected to their lands, cultures, and ecosystems. Through collaborative research, Earth Daughters elevates Indigenous science and traditional ecological knowledge, recognizing it as essential to building sustainable and culturally grounded climate solutions.

OUR HISTORY

Earth Daughters emerged on June 23, 2020, through a collective mutual aid effort grounded in Indigenous strength, care, and solidarity. In the aftermath of a devastating 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Oaxaca’s Sierra Sur, our founder launched the first mutual aid campaign, rapidly mobilizing resources and helping rebuild 200 homes for the families most affected.

From that pivotal beginning, Earth Daughters has grown into a powerful force for grassroots change, advancing mutual aid and Indigenous‑centered research that honor sovereignty, Indigenous science, and self‑determination. Whether responding to disasters or addressing the ongoing impacts of climate change, the organization has remained steadfast, walking alongside communities with compassion, courage, and a shared responsibility to protect land, life, and future generations.

In late 2025, Earth Daughters formally became a nonprofit organization, expanding its capacity to support transnational Indigenous leadership and deepening its long‑term commitment to community‑led climate justice.
