The Indigenous leader I chose to write about is Casey Camp-Horinek, a Ponca Nation elder, environmental activist, and actress from Oklahoma.
She might not be as well-known as some other leaders, but her work for the earth and her people is amazing.

I admire her because she has spent her life fighting for land, water, and climate justice, while also keeping her culture and traditions alive.
Casey Camp-Horinek activism reflects the teachings of her ancestors about respecting the earth and protecting it for future generations.
She has helped lead protests against oil pipelines that threaten Native lands and water like the Keystone XL pipeline.

Her work connects deeply to the idea that the land is sacred and that people have a duty to care for it.

She also teaches others about traditional Ponca ceremonies and ways of life, showing how cultural knowledge can guide environmental protection.

What inspires me most about Casey is her strength and wisdom. Even though she has faced many challenges, she continues to speak up for her people and the planet.

She believes that climate justice must include Indigenous voices, because they have lived in balance with the land for thousands of years.
Her courage reminds me that protecting the environment is not just about science it’s about love, respect, and responsibility.

Learning about Casey makes me think more about my own habits and how I can take better care of the earth, even in small ways like recycling or saving water.

She shows that one person’s voice, grounded in culture and truth, can make a big difference.

Her leadership reminds us that real change starts when we listen to Indigenous people and honor their connection to the land.
